An Introduction

I have probably written ten different "first" posts... and I don't know quite how to start this new blog. I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Lisa. I am a Vietnamese-American trying to figure out how to live in both worlds. I am a wife to an amazing man named Joel... we are in our sixth year of marriage... and have one child, Kaden. He's almost two years old. This journey I have been on these last (almost thirty) years has been such an amazing experience. I love being a wife and mom. I love many other things such as photography... art... creating... and my newest love (not TOO new of a love, but newest) is baking.

I love the idea of baking... it's not just the cookies or brownies or cake itself. It's the experience that the baked good gives people. It brings us back to a place, a time, where that sweet goodness made us feel better about the world. For that second it is comfort. (in no way am I promoting eating to make us feel better...) but there is something about food that brings back memories of thanksgivings, of birthday parties... of grandma's house. Something somewhere out there is a memory attached to the yumminess. And when we consume it again... that memory takes us back. And we share that memory and create new ones.

I hope that my children will look back on their childhood when they eat a white chocolate chip cranberry cookie...and remember the fun times we shared in the kitchen... around the kitchen aid... flour and sugar all over! Laughs and tears shared.

This may turn into my page to share some recipes... my thoughts on recipes I have tried... but ultimately I hope that I am helping to create memories more than just the cookie itself. But they cookies are tasty and that's worth sharing!!! Hope you come around and enjoy some milk and cookies.
